Dear Students, Parents, and Teachers,

The first semester will come to an end this weekend. This year, we have welcomed some new students and teachers—welcome to our big family!

Before the term concludes, here are some important announcements:

* Our school plans to hold a 'Chinese character pencil writing competition' (divided by junior and senior grade) and a 'Chinese character dictation competition' (divided by textbook level) in the term 2. This is part of our annual plan announced at the beginning of the year. We encourage all students to participate and hope everyone will use the holiday time to practice at home. Focus on proper character size, horizontal and vertical alignment, balanced structure, and standardized strokes. Try to do dictation for all the characters you've learned. Students who win will receive prizes, with more details to be announced next term.

 * We have received a notice from public schools that the Saturday classes originally scheduled to start on 3 May must be cancelled because both campuses' hall have been requisitioned by the government as venues for the Federal Election. Therefore, Saturday classes will now begin on 10 May. Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday classes will start as originally planned. Please see the table below for details:

* Students who studied Chinese at our school for 2 or more than terms last year will receive a $10 tuition discount in the second term of this year.

 * All students who took the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK & YCT) at our school last year have received their score reports. Many students achieved excellent results. Among the 26 participants, three students achieved full marks, they are: Li Jie Si LEI (YCT 2), Yun Guo (YCT 3), and Emily Deng (HSK 1). Most students performed well, especially in listening. However, results in reading and writing varied. We hope everyone will work on their weaker areas and strive for even better results next year.

Wishing everyone a happy Easter and a joyful holiday!
