Dear classmates, parents and teachers,

 The term 2 is already halfway through. Here are some important announcements:

• Handwriting Competition

We previously announced in the first term that a handwriting competition would be held in the second term. The detailed plan is as follows:

Date: The competition will take place from 14 June 2025 to 1 July 2025. The final submission deadline is 5:30 PM on 1 July.

Eligibility: All students in our Chinese classes (except for the kindergarten class) are eligible to participate. We encourage everyone to join, but participation is not mandatory.

Competition Format:

1. The competition will be divided into two groups:

Junior group: Students studying textbooks from Book 1 to Book 4.

Senior group: Students studying Book 5 and above.

2. Junior group students will copy 50 distinct Chinese characters they have learned

(no repetitions), one time each. Senior group students will copy 80 distinct

characters they have learned, one time each. Students should write their name

and class on the back of the submission.

• Use grid-style writing paper ( ? -grid or ? -grid paper). You may prepare it yourself or request it from the school. Pencil only is allowed.

• Students may complete the writing at school or at home, and should submit their work to their class teacher.

Awards:
For each level, the following awards will be given:

• First Prize : 1 winner, scholarship of $50

• Second Prize : 2 winners, scholarship of $30

• Third Prize : 3 winners, scholarship of $20

• Honorable Mention : 5 winners, scholarship of $10

A total of 20 awards will be granted. Evaluation will be conducted jointly by both the main and branch campuses.

Note: The scholarship will be issued in the form of a voucher , which can be used toward tuition

payment . All winners will also receive a certificate and a small souvenir .

Judging: Class teachers will serve as judges. Student names will be hidden during judging. Winners will be selected based on the number of votes received. Criteria include: appropriate character size, proper placement within the grid, minimal mistakes, well-balanced structure, neat and correct strokes, clean presentation, and few visible erasures. Parents or others are not allowed to write on behalf of students. For any suspicious entries, the school reserves the right to ask the student to write in person for verification.

Award Ceremony: Winners will be announced in Week 2 of the third term. A brief ceremony will be held at the main campus, and individual class presentations will take place at the branch campus.

• Dance Performance

On 1June, our school's dance class students participated in the annual cultural performance organized by the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools. Their dance, titled "Mist and Rain in Southern Bank of Yangtze River", was a great success and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Special thanks to the performers: Anni Lin, Emma Chen, Alyssa Chen, Liz Liu, Eileen Li and Zini Lei, , and heartfelt appreciation to teacher Qinglian Zhong for her dedicated instruction, as well as the supportive parents!

• Choral Symphony Performance

Our school is organizing up to 20 students to participate in a large-scale symphonic concert titled "Ode to Peace" on 29 August at 7:00 PM, performing selected choral segments.
